2024 VPS Day One: VNC, SSH, Passwords, and Public IP Checklist

After opening a new instance, confirm the console, remote login, resource, network and security settings first to avoid troubleshooting after going online.

Don’t rush to deploy services on the first day of VPS activation. First confirm the instance status, system image, public IP, CPU, memory, disk, bandwidth and expiration time. The console information and the check results in the system must be consistent.

VNC is used to handle system startup, graphical interface and troubleshooting when SSH fails; SSH is used for daily operation and maintenance and automation. Both should be tested after provisioning, and passwords and keys saved to a team-approved password management tool.

If it is a cross-border account environment, the IP region, browser, language, time zone and person in charge must also be recorded. The more complete the records on the first day are, the easier it will be to locate subsequent problems.
